Video to GIF Conversion Help

How to Convert Videos to GIFs

  1. Click the Upload Video button.

  2. Select your .mp4 or .mov video file.

  3. Configure the frame rate. Usually around 10-15 is a safe bet. Values above 15 frames per second are prone to longer conversion times.

  4. Set the quality. Lower quality settings provide the fastest conversion times.

  5. Press Convert to GIF and observe the real-time progress bar as it updates you on the progress of your conversion.

  6. When the conversion finishes, click the Download Image button to save your image. Note that if you do not download your GIF and then leave the page or convert a new image, it will need to be converted again.

  7. Enjoy your GIF!

My conversion didn't work or there was an error during conversion

Steps to solve errors in video to GIF conversion:

  1. Reload the page and try again.

  2. Sometimes Chrome extensions, browser preferences, and other client-side issues can disrupt our conversion process.

  3. Try again in an incognito/private browsing window.

  4. This can help fix issues related to extensions, cookies, or preferences.

  5. Try changing the frame rate settings.

  6. Sometimes a different frame rate setting can solve errors in the conversion process, especially those that are related to CPU or memory usage.

  7. Try changing the quality settings.

  8. Similar to the frame rate settings, changing the quality settings can sometimes solve errors in the conversion process.

  9. Try a different video format.

  10. This tool has only been tested with .mov and .mp4 files. While other video formats (.wmv, etc) may work, they have been known to have more issues.

  11. Try a smaller video.

  12. Sometimes our script will throw errors when videos have excessively large or poorly defined dimensions, as identifying the video's size is crucial to our conversion process. Additionally, while we do not impose limits on file size, it's possible that very large files (over 1 GB) will throw errors, either due to the limitations of your device or because the script took excessively long to run.

My conversion is taking a long time

Steps to solve slow video to GIF conversion:

  1. Try changing the frame rate settings.

  2. A lower frame rate setting means the converter needs to capture and create fewer frames, which means a faster conversion. However, the video may appear choppier.

  3. Try changing the quality settings.

  4. Similar to the frame rate settings, changing the quality settings usually drastically speeds up the conversion process. In situations where a fast conversion is preferred over a high resolution output, Low and Lowest Quality settings are optimal (in some cases, Low Quality is up to 4 times faster than High Quality).

  5. Try a different video format.

  6. This tool has only been tested with .mov and .mp4 files. While other video formats (.wmv, etc) may work, they have been known to have more issues.

  7. Try a smaller video.

  8. Sometimes our script will throw errors when videos have excessively large or poorly defined dimensions, as identifying the video's size is crucial to our conversion process. Additionally, while we do not impose limits on file size, it's possible that very large files (over 1 GB) will take a long time, either due to the limitations of your device or because the script took excessively long to run.

Robots.txt Generator Help

How to Create a Robots.txt File

  1. Open up our Robots.txt generator tool.

  2. Configure the User-agent settings.

  3. Add directories to your Disallow list.

  4. Add directories to your Allow list.

  5. Optionally, use the Bulk Paste options for Allow and Disallow.

  6. Click the green Generate robots.txt button.

  7. Either copy the generated text directly from the output area below the button and paste it into a text editor, or press the Download robots.txt button to download the file.

What is a robots.txt file?

  • A robots.txt file provides information to search engines (like Google and Bing) about what pages of your website they should and should not index

  • This can be helpful for complicated sites and webapps that have many pages that are not necessary for Google to display on their search results. It is possible that providing this information via a robots.txt file may improve your website's performance in search results, as Google will be able to index only important pages and not penalize you for pages not meant to be seen by most users or search engines.

However, SEO and search engine crawlers are extremely complex topics. It is also possible that this will have no positive effect at all on your website. However, Google and other major search engines now consider them to be best practices in modern web development.

What do "User Agent," "Allow," and "Disallow" mean?

  1. The User Agent parameter determines which crawlers the following Allow and Disallow rules apply to.

  2. Here, you can choose to only apply the rules to certain crawlers, such as AdsBot or Googlebot. Or, you can use * to make your robots.txt rules apply to all crawlers.

  3. Directories listed under "Allow" are considered to be those intended for indexing by crawlers.

  4. You can use / to allow all directories to be indexed, or you can specify specific directories. Keep in mind that directories must end with / in a robots.txt file.

  5. Directories listed under "Disallow" are considered to be those that are NOT intended for indexing by crawlers.

  6. The same rules as "Allow" apply here.
