How to Convert GIFs to PNG Images

  5. When the conversion finishes, click the Download as ZIP button to save each frame of your gif in a ZIP archive file.

    Note that if you do not download your ZIP and then leave the page or convert a new image, it will need to be converted again.

  6. Alternatively, you can right click individual frames and save them to your computer as PNG image files.

  • What is this tool and what does it do?

    • This tool is a free, online converter that will convert a GIF animated image file into multiple PNG images. One PNG will be generated for each frame in your GIF. They are then bundled into a single .zip file for your convenience.

  • Is this tool free?

    • Yes, this tool is completely free.

  • What can I do with my PNGs?

    • It is not the most common file conversion, but sometimes you may want to extract each frame out of a GIF and save them as images. This can be helpful for creating stop motion animations, finding the perfect frame of a video to use as a still photo, or precisely analyzing the frames of a video for any number of purposes.

  • Is there a limit to how many GIFs I can convert?

    • No. Convert as many as you'd like, everyday. However, you can only upload one GIF at a time.

  • Is there a limit to how large uploaded GIF files can be?

    • No. For now, there is no limit to GIF file sizes. Our converter runs on your browser's JavScript engine locally, as opposed to outsourcing the processing to a datacenter using complicated, expensive servers and databases. That means the only limit to GIF-to-PNG image conversion is your computer's available resources.

  • Can I convert several GIFs at once?

    • At the moment, conversions must be done one at a time. This is something we are working on improving in the future.

  • How long will it take to convert my GIF into a PNG?

    • That depends on a number of factors including internet speeds, your computer's available resources, your browser, the frame rate, and the length of the GIF.

  • Can I convert GIFs to videos with this tool?

    • At the moment, no. In the future, we plan to release a variety of other free, browser-based converters, including a GIF-to-video converter. Stay tuned!

We value your privacy. This tool does not store any uploaded videos, images, or converted GIFs on our servers. All conversions are done locally on your device. We do not collect any personal information.

However, we do utilize CloudFlare Web Analytics to monitor traffic to our website. We do not track usage of the tools, button clicks, link clicks, number of files uploaded, file names, or individual pages visited. We simply monitor the number of times the site is visited, whether the visitor is unique, and what country/region their IP address is from.
